Tommy Stewart_drummerAs a drummer with a vested personal interest in all aspects of movement and anatomy, Tommy became certified as a personal trainer through ISSA (International Sports Science Association) in 1998. Shortly after that, he moved back to Boston to re-join Godsmack, release their first record and begin touring in earnest. After years spent on the road, he began to seriously integrate more training into his time off, receiving his certification with NASM (National Association of Sports Medicine) in 2006, and, two years later, his Level 1 and 2 Power Plate credentials.

In 2012, after continued and concentrated study about human movement, Tommy formed Functional Body Movement.

Whether one’s goal is weight loss, core strength, cardio, greater flexibility, post-pregnancy toning or general well-being, Functional Body Movement provides each individual with a specific set of skills and the physical self-awareness they need, custom-tailoring each regimen and avoiding one-size-fits-all solutions. Stewart sees himself as a guide to overall wellness rather than as a traditional trainer, and his years as a professional drummer have given him rare insight into biomechanics and body movement, while his extensive knowledge of physical anatomy supports his intuitive, artistic talents.
