Drumsmack TV Episode 47: Sammy Watson, Brad Crowell, Gianluca Palmieri, Jeff Sorenson & Homero Chavez

The drumming world lost one of its greats this past week with the passing of Chuck Silverman, beloved educator and author. Chuck was an Afro-Caribbean rhythm specialist, with a passion for that part of the world and its people. On tonight’s episode, Jeff and Brad were joined by some of Chuck’s closest colleagues and friends at Musicians Institute in commemorating a life taken too soon.

Also please join us at Mambo’s Cafe in Glendale for an evening of jamming in Chuck’s honor on Thursday, May 8, hosted by Jimmy Branly and friends.

Chuck Silverman was an extremely kind and generous human being and a gifted
drumist. I had the pleasure of meeting Chuck in the 1980’s. His lesson books are at the top of my pile next to my practice kit. I am very sad to hear about his passing. Will keep the torch burning Chuck.

I had the great pleasure of traveling to Cuba with Chuck in 2010. It was a life changing experience. His passion for the music and the culture of Cuba was infectious. I am really going to miss a great musician and a dear friend.
